    Oh – because Americans don’t call it jam, they call it jelly. See, kids can actually have jam sandwiches here, so I was beginning to take him seriously.

  3. jakeamitchell says:

    I think it’s hilarious that they refer to the then B-list Tom Hanks as a poor man’s Bill Murray and say he’s only ok in small doses.

  4. Tagemandbagem says:

    ROOOOOOBOT HOOOOOOOOUSE!

  5. whackawhack says:

    Just to say, I was answering the dope who didn’t get the “korean girl” line. Amazing, huh?

  6. whackawhack says:

    Are YOU kidding? Uh, yeah…he’s kind of trying to unnerve the uptight parents….HOLY SHIT, if I gotta explain that to you…..

    Is his character kidding about the asian kid? I don’t remember all of this movie. I was only a kid when I saw it.

  13. notchic says:

    Great stuff from back in the day, when only the PBS crowd knew who Siskel and Ebert were.

  14. OrmEmber says:

    Tom Hanks was very obnoxious in this film. It’s hard to know whether he was directed that way or thought he was being funny. Fortunately, he got over his “I”m cute when I’m smarmy” phase later on.

  15. Level257 says:

    Fail.

  16. dbreiden83080 says:

    This movie is a classic, i watch it on DVD all the time..

  17. PurushaDesa says:

    Well what do you want to watch right now?

    Philadelphia – a moving story of one man’s search for justice against discrimination;
    Forrest Gump – a true American underdog story set against the epic backdrop of landmark historical events;
    Saving Private Ryan – a war yarn committing the most visceral mass combat scenes ever filmed to the cinema;

    OR BACHELOR PARTY!!!

    “somebody on this show has to have a sense of humor” lol tell em roger

  23. Kevin90028 says:

    Hard to believe George Grizzard’s obit in the NY Times failed to mention this film. It’s his finest work, far superior to those silly Edward Albee things.

  24. albertstock85 says:

    Poor Man’s Bill Murray, by the way of Micheal Keaton…Man, Siskel sure had to take that back years later.

  25. jamminjohn says:

    This and Dragnet are Hanks’ best.
